Most people who are offered something will think:


“What’s in it for me?”


And these are the 5 most important letters in marketing.


This is what everyone is thinking when you start talking to them, whether it’s an ad you made, or when you are pitching someone your products/services.


So, in any piece of marketing, whether it’s an ad, a website or just a landing page, think through the lens of, if you were them, what’s in it for you?


Tell the reader why it is a good idea to give you money, or to listen to you.


Put yourself in their shoes and come up with multiple good answers to this.


Why Is No One Doing It?


Weird question, but if this approach is so good, why are so few people doing it?


Well…


It’s because they aren’t aware of it.


People in sales and marketing will do it, but people who run smaller businesses might just not know it or how to use it in practice.

This Is How You Fix This

Tell them exactly why it’s a good idea to give you money.


It might be because they will get something fixed, or done, that will save them time and get rid of frustrations.


Come up with multiple good answers, and test them in your marketing.


Everyone is excited to talk about their services and how great they are, but in fact, no one cares about it other than you.


So, write something that resonates with the outcome your target market wants, instead of talking about yourself.
